“Producers Week” Day 4: Sonny Digital, Get Cool, ColliPark and Mr. Hanky

Greg Street‘s “Producers Week” just won’t stop! Not until Saturday, at least! But today he brought in some of your best from the old school and new school. These local Atlantan producers are everything except, local. Many of their songs have crossed over from award shows to the big screen. They stopped by to let all the upcoming producers know what can be done with a little hard work and determination.
Sonny Digital, the youngest producer of the group, brought you the biggest song of 2011, Racks on Racks by YC! Since then he’s been in the streets grinding it out looking for that next big hit! It seems he’s getting close because he’s back with Same Damn Time by Future and it’s getting major play across the radio waves.
When Greg Street asked who he thinks he could work with to beat the success of Racks on Racks, he was confident.
“You’re putting me on the spot, but I would have to say Kanye West,” he said. “I know that’s out there, but I would love to work with Kanye and I know we could make hits!”
There’s no doubt that Sonny Digital can get on Fruity Loops and make classics with Kanye West. Of course he’ll have to keep grinding, be consistent, and stay humble- following the same advice he offered up for other new comers.
Get Cool‘s was in the studio tonight! His clients range from T-Pain, David Banner, and Young Jeezy to Juvenile, Flo Rida, and Sean Garrett, but of course there’s more. Get Cool has crossed over and not in the normal sense (from a rap audience to a more mainstream audience), but he has crossed over to “movie soundtracks”.
Get cool produced four tracks on the soundtrack of Disney’s Step Up 3D and also produced for Stomp the Yard 2: Homecoming! This major producer offered up his advice to new producers in a comparison between businesses.
“As an artist, publishing is where it’s at and movies do major numbers,” he said. “It’s the difference between working with an artist and getting half now and half later, or working on a movie and getting all your money up front. Get heard! “
Be on the look out for this producer on your next favorite movie’s soundtrack.
Mr.Collipark and his signee Mr. Hanky double teamed in the studio today with a wide range of hits that came from the team! What hasn’t Mr. Collipark done? From owning his own record label, Collipark Records, to being instrumental in the careers of the Ying Yang Twins, Soulja Boy, and V.I.C, he definitely has the recipe to how to make it in this game.
Mr. Hanky is clearly watching because he’s on the move as well. Four years in, he’s brought you mixtape songs like Waffle House by Travis Porter and Hell You Talm Bout by Waka Flocka. His biggest hit so far would have to be Trill E and Prince Rick‘s Throwed Off! You know it- “Walk around the club… bump everybody… can’t see- can’t talk… bump everybody!” But he’s not done and when asked what equipment he uses to create his music, he jokingly responded, “spoons, forks, whatever- I get it done!” He really uses Protools, Reason, Logic, and MPC. But he held the jokes when asked for advice for new musicians.
“I would have to say be realistic and keep working,” he said. “People think because they get one hot song or even a mixtape song, they’ve made it- it’s not so!”
Be on the look out for his newest hit, Da Wop by Lil Chuckee
