Tonight Amanda Davis was set to return to local television in a commentary role, but that’s being put on hold. Reports indicate that Davis has been charged with driving under the influence in Cobb County. She was apparently arrested shortly before 1 a.m. this morning near Cumberland Parkway. Davis was let go from Fox 5 Atlanta following a DUI arrest in 2012. She had been there for 26 years.
In an interview with me earlier this month, Davis called the 2012 situation “awful.” She said that she had a lot of empathy for the man whom she was charged with hitting while going the wrong way on Piedmont Avenue in Midtown. She also told me that she had had a drink that night, but was “afraid” to submit to a field sobriety test. Davis was eventually found not guilty in that incident. She admitted to me of having gone through a period of “depression” and said that she had “sought out the Lord.”
Davis was to have returned to local TV today on CBS46. A statement on the station’s Website indicates that she has requested a “temporary leave“.
