Greg Street’s We Need 2 Read Program popped up at College Campus’s with a Book Scholarship for students. Students At Kennesaw State, UGA, Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta Metropolitan College, Clayton State & Georgia State had no idea Greg Street would catch them off guard & pay for their books, resulting in some students breaking down in tears. We Need 2 Read is a program Greg created & devolved to aid the literacy issues in elementary, middle & high schools. High school student have won as much as $10,000 in several read-a-thons, elementary & middle school students win money, sneakers, headphones & other prizes.
Last summer the Fulton-Atlanta library system teamed up with We Need 2 Read & gave away $3,000 to the kids who read the most books all summer in all 33 libraries around the city. This pass summer, best reader at each library won a Kindal Fire 6 & the over all/grand prize winner received a mac book pro laptop computer. The video production class at Pebblebrook High School had its on contest last year for a canon t5i camera & a Mac book pro lap top. Harmony Leland ele even had a contest the best boy & girl reader on ever grade level won $103. The girls at Coretta Scott King competed against the boys at Best Academy – Benjamin Carson for $3,000. MLK high school won a We Need 2 Read Twitter contest for a 24 hour read-a-thon. North Atlanta High School had 5 team group who also won $10,000!
