The moving video, shot in black and white, shares 23 ways black men, women and children have been killed. It opens with Alicia Keys. “Signaling a lane change,” she says, her voice barely holding together her disbelief, before Sandra Bland’s picture appears.

Beyoncé appears next. “Riding in your girlfriend’s car with a child in the back,” she says, describing how Philando Castille died. “Running to the bathroom in your own apartment,” Chris Rock says.

Janelle Monae, Adam Levine, Pharrell, Bono, Chance the Rapper, A$AP Rocky, Lenny Kravitz, Rihanna, Jennifer Hudson, Common, Queen Latifah, Swizz Beatz, Talib Kweli and more appear in the video, which ends on a poignant note. In other words, Maxwell says, “Doing absolutely nothing.”

The video comes as part of We Are Here movement, which uses culture to create change.
