To say the news of Shawty Lo‘s death hit home for The Ryan Cameron Morning Show with Wanda Smith would be more than a metaphor, as Ryan and Lo were both – as the saying goes – “Bankhead Born.”

And “unfortunately Atlanta,” Ryan affirmed in today’s Ryan Report, “we’ve lost one of our own.”

While the local news channels were reporting on a fiery crash just off of I-285, Ryan was on the line confirming with Lo’s friend and manager, Johnnie Cabbell, that it was a hip-hop neighborhood legend in that wrecked Audi.

“It’s official Ryan,” he said between tears. “He died. He was ejected from the car.”

“This is crazy. I just can’t believe my friend gone. Just don’t seem real.”

Cabbell said Lo – who was born Carlos Walker – was just at his house shooting a video for the rapper’s father; who was buried last Saturday.

Even eerier: “I talked to him last night before he went to the club,” Cabbell said. “He asked me to come with him. I just feel like I should have went. Maybe things would have went different.”
