Hot spots are still burning from a fire at a warehouse on Lithonia Industrial Boulevard in DeKalb County. The four alarm blaze shut down the highway at the start of rush hour while firefighters battled the inferno.
Atlanta television station WSB showed flames stretching across the huge building and shooting into the pre-dawn sky. Smoke could be seen pouring across the area.
At the scene, DeKalb County Fire Rescue Capt. Eric Jackson said the roof collapsed “throughout the entire building”. Jackson also said that they saw “no advantage in putting our firefighters directly in harm’s way to fight this fire”.
The warehouse was near a fire station, therefore fire crews were able to quickly attack the blaze. The building is reportedly registered to Nedco, Inc., which makes machines that fold t-shirts, towels and other items.
