Hello, i just wanted to comment on Wanda’s attitude from Frank & Wanda show this morning. I listen to this show every morning at 6am. I actually love this show. But this morning, i was very offended and disappointed at Wanda when she hung up on the lady that was getting married on June 1st.. I found that act to be very ignorant and uncalled for. We, the listeners, have made her what she is in Atlanta. I dont know if i want to listen to her voice again after this incident. She was just too much on this Wednesday morning…

Concerning the discussion on this morning on Immigration Reform. I find the comments from Frank Ski appalling. How dare you have the audacity to tell that young woman that because of her going to school here in America we should be proud to have her represent us. She has broken the law and anyone who has broken the law should not be rewarded. What kind of signal does that send. I don’t care how long someone has lived here in the USA, if they aren’t here legally they are breaking the law.

wow really?? how dare you say that mexicans are taking over! first of all, you ignorant person, they are not all mexican. some are colombians, cubans, guatemalens. so don’t be blaming everything on “mexicans.” secondly, you don’t even know how hard it is to be successful in a country that is not like the united states, uk, or france, etc.. you don’t hear people saying to african americans to go back to africa and what not .. soo next time think twice!!

    susan
    May 24, 2010 3:10 pm

angela, you know that this is your country but do you not remember that you were also an immigrant once??..well your ancestors were .. so please don’t be racist..

Well first of all, I really never listened to the radio. However, when I finally started listening to the radio, I began enjoying Miss Sophia’s segment. Now I have been listening to her/him for as long as the segment has been running. Is this segment done? If this is the people’s station, then Where’s Sophia? They are seriously talented and a gifted comedian. I hope they are on vacation. Taking such a funny person on the radio would be a crime. I hope the hear them soon. Thanks

.Obviously, there is a lot you don’t understand about migration, I recommend you do a little research and then, at the end understand about breaking the law. People dont wake up saying I feeling like breaking the U.S. immigration laws. Don’t confuse the two with terrorism. Good luck.

I travel every year to Mexico and they happen to be the nicest people to everyone. I am so disappointed with how the Americans treat the Mexicans who come here legal or illegally. If hadn’t notice the Mexicans built this city. If your house was built within the last 10-15 years 9 out of 10 a Mexican built that house you live in now. The discrimination is so disgusting. Being a people of latin descent, it hurts to see how color makes such a difference. Blacks are not totally accepted in society and those Uncle Tom’s out there are still black and trust me, they are not fooling anyone. Clothes and proper grammar does not get you into the click. You will never be one of the good ole boys or girls. Sometimes we have to step back and see what is really happening. From Ellis Island to now, we are all immigrants, other than the Arawak Native Americans who were here, we are IMMIGRANTS every last one of us. So before you start throwing stones in glass houses, Remember we came here to start a prosperous and lucrative life for our FAMILIES. Family is what its about from the Mexicans who bust their chops to make a dollar to feed their children to the African American and Whites on Welfare. Should we deport those losers on Public Assistance? Damn that was harsh. But if we are going to live peacefully we are going to have to start ” Getting Along” ala Rodney King. Have a heart and start understanding, getting rid of the Mexicans is not going to enhance your way of life. If anything your house may take a lot longer to build and may cost you an arm and a leg and the apartment your living in now may be a permanent home for you!!!

I am listening to Frank and Wanda Show. Sometimes Frank Ski is so full of BS that it makes me tired of listening. He was so in favor of the young lady that was on with the immigration issue. Frank we know that you are part hispanic. Let me hear your black side address the issues of black males who break the law selling drugs and are never forgiven by our society. They cannot get government loans to go to school. They can’t get jobs because of one felony conviction. This country is built on laws. We cannot pick and choose whom to apply these laws too. If her family was illegal then she is illegal. If the college turned their heads and knew then they should also be reprimanded. Are they ignoring the black males’ felonies because they haven’t been in trouble since? People wake up. The Mexicans have an organized plan. They are slowly coming in and taking over. Using our own laws against us. Mexicans aredescendents of Indians and feel that this land belongs to them and they are taking it back.

    Carla
    May 22, 2010 6:25 pm

Lillian, you sound just as ignorant as Rush Limbaugh or Neil Bortz I declare. I respected your opinion until we got to the “the Mexicans are taking over…organized plan” BS. You sound so racist, and as a Black person, you should really be ashamed. I agree that we should not grant this young woman amnesty just because she is a college student; however, the fact that she is a productive college student who was brought here as a minor does complicate the issue. However, please drop the anti-Hispanic rhetoric. It is just as tired as white folks who believe that we are all criminals and welfare babies. Tired.

      susan
      May 24, 2010 3:06 pm

carla, i respect your opinion and i totallly agree with what you said. it’s getting very tired when people say that “mexicans” are taking over.. first of all, there all not mexican, there are illegal immigrants from parts of europe, latin america, and asia. hispanics are being treated like african americans were treated in the 1950′s. except they get deported because this is not there country. it’s so funny how Some people who are born here in America, that actually have an oppurtunity to go to college, don’t take that oppurtunity and drop out or just throw there life away. and ppl who don’t have this wonderful chance, are the ones who actually want to succeed in life and go to college.

    P. Joan
    June 22, 2010 9:03 am

i agree — sick of black folk taking up for “them.” They don’t like us and call us n……rs so who are you kidding. They are racist as heck and take jobs for low pay away f/us. so stop the bull.

GREAT!!!! u never hear an influential politician or public voice (speaker) talk about convicted felons and the tribulations that they go through after being instituionalized and so-called refined to be put back in society cut-off to the gain of their community and family. NOW all of the young generation dont understand how to survive the ligite way, THEY DO WHAT THEY SEE AND HEAR, DUMB AND LAZY TO LEARN THEIR HISTORY!,but PEOPLE are concerned bout one illegal girl and school TUITION when there are MILLIONS OF LEGAL, BORN IN AMERICA WHITE & BLACK starving for the best this country has to give. HELP YOUR OWN PEOPLE FIRST! (colorblind)

I will be 29 on August 7th and I really want to go to Jamaica. I have the money and time, but none of my homegirls can bust a move so quickly. I know that other radio shows that do trips encourage singles not to wait on their friends to come along, but ATL is somewhat of a “clique” town so I am not sure how comfortable I would feel if I decided to go alone. I don’t have a problem going out to clubs and other events alone when friends aren’t available, I am very friendly and outgoing. I don’t want to be all the way in Jamaica on my bday feeling like an outsider though. What do you think?

I lived in Atlanta years ago. Larry Tinsley and all the good staff at the station got me home safe every Sunday morning after my midnight shifts at the hospital. After I moved to Detroit my friend in Atlanta sent me the program on tape. Now I have the ability to listen on line. I thank you all for streaming this program and for the joy it brings me every Sunday. I would like to know how to see the list of songs that are playing. Many of them I would like to purchase and enjoy all week. I have been unable to find that list on the site. Can you please advise me as to how to recieve this play list.
Thank you and have a blessed day.

I know as a radio show you have to play a diverse group of music, but how can you be really about the community with some of the ridiculous crap that you play and feed to the youth of the black community. I was out with my teenage daughter listening to your station when a song with some male rapper and Nicki Minaj came on and she said qoute” dick in an ass” I was livid. Why do you all continue to play this kind of garbage that does nothing but promote sexual promiscuiety, disrespectful behavior, and just pure silliness amongst our youth. Its sickning. Do you run your station or do these silly fake hard core rappers run them… I just want to know because a song talking about anal sex being played in the middle of a Saturday afternoon is not what any responsible parent needs to hear. Really how does this junk music make the airwaves?????

We need your support! I recently made my first stage performance in a play entitled “What A Man Wants May Not Be What A Man Needs” on May 22nd at the Rockdale Auditorium in Conyers, GA. The audience loved it, but the cast, writer, and production company would like to reach a bigger audience and take this production further. Many of the people that came out to support this show are your listeners so don’t take my word for it. Ask around, and see what you find out. If you would like to know more about it to see if it is worth your well known and loyally loved station to help us promote it, please contact me via e-mail. This show will make you laugh and rejoice. It is a comedy with a divinely inspired message for your home-girls, playas, women with low self-esteem, church folks, etc. You will not be disappointed!

good morning frank and wanda, I need help! I’ve been married goning on 15 yrs. now and we’ve been together since 8th grade. We are both 38 yrs. old now. I love my wife, she is like my foundation and i feel that i can’t breathe without her in my life BUT, she beats me down both emotionally and mentally. Now with that being said, I am not a weak indivdual by no means. It’s just that I have three beautiful children to think about and they are at an impressinable state right now. Their well-being is my priority. You see, I grew up without a father and I don’t want to do the same to them. My wife has turned to ice over the years, she is not the woman i remember. She is all about money. We constantly fight about money. One second she’ll say we need to make cutbacks, the next she’ll sa y we’re okay. One second she’ll say i’m a great father the next she’ll say I don’t do enough. One second she’ll say she’s happy , the next she’ll say she’s not. I am at a crossrads in my marriage. please give me a reason to do the right thing because i’m afraid i’m gonna be selfish and do the wrong thing.

He gives you your answer on what you need to do to make your marriage work… Seek GOD and stop seeking man!! I promise you… you will see a big different.
Man, GOD is getting ready to come back and we are running around here playing church. If we don’t get it RIGHT with GOD we will be going with Satan.. straight to HELL!!
If you want to know more about LOVING your Wife and putting up with her.. Read the Book ” The Bible”

Hello This morning (5/26) about 9:30am I won the Spa Sydell package that Frank Ski announced on the radio. I sent in my text and was called with the exciting news. I am a mother of seven and a nursing student at KSU. I graduate this December and I have been working very hard to accomplish this. I was called back and told that after all I could not have the package because my daughter won the Sex and the City tickets last week. Ofcourse I was devastated. I never have time or money to do anything for myself so I was elated to have won. I am very disapointed because I was never asked if someone else with the same address on their drivers liscence had won during the whole initial announcement. My daughter who won is twenty and actually lives on the KSU campus in a sub lease but because she still has my address on her id I was given then taken away something that I have never done, something just for me.

If may say a few things about this mornings show. The body glove is false advertisement. Wanda said what about men when they cannot perform when they get them home. But if you started pulling layers of item that are not you in your natural setting what do you expect. It looks like the next fake thing on a woman will be the point of entry. If you really want a sexy shape you should diet right and earn by working out. The reward is far greater and you will better because its all you.

Hey Frank and Wanda! First of all, I would like to say to Frank…we go waaaaaaaaay back…Hammerjacks/Louie-Louie times…Ms. Tony days….Tera Thomas era…..waaaaaaay back to B-More. Love your show in Atlanta. Doing a great job guys. Keep up the good work. Been here for about 10 years now. I am a mother of nine, with three sets of twins. I’m sure you remember me now. Anyways, my daughter Sgt. Brown AKA La’Quida Brown has been in Germany on a 2 year deployment. She will be touching down in Atlanta on Friday, June 4th @ 2:25pm. I have not seen her or my grandson for two years. He was 1 years old when they left and he is now 3 years old. I really wanted to do something extremely special and off the chain for my baby girl who has been serving in the US Army since the age of 17. She will be 24years old on June 7th. I wanted her to have the biggest welcome home ever. I am really not sure of where to start. She is a person that loves flowers, teddy bears, and balloons..She also loves to party! She’s a very simple, humble young lady. She has toured Iraq at the age of 18, and this is her second tour in Germany. She has experienced parts of life that I can only dream of. I have mad respect for my baby girl. It has been really tough for her and baby, but with GOD she pulled through and weathered every storm. If you can help me out with any suggestions, places to go, things to do, I would greatly appreciate it. I really wanted her to have an everyday experience for about a week of nothing but fun, fun, and more fun. So if you, or anyone who’s reading this could give me some input of what WE as a V-103 family can do for her and baby, I would greatly, greatly appreciate it. I miss my baby so much. I get goose bumps just thinking about her arrival and what it’s going to be like to see her and my grandson after two years. Please help me out with any suggestions! God Bless the V-103 families, your listeners, any other soldiers for serving our country.

I just would like to know why the listeners of the Frank & Wanda Show have to find out that Ms. Sophia was gone by Frank introducing Elle. I like Elle, but Ms. Sophia was great, caring & very funny! Question, is Frank’s ego so big that he could not have two superstars along side him.

I know it probably doesn’t matter, but that is it for me and I know a lot of people who share my sentiments.

I think Frank liked Sophia in that way…too close for comfort. I’m going to miss Elle’s 12pm mix. If she had to be anywhere on the station I wish they would put her back with Ryan. What’s going on at V103.

      June 17, 2010 11:51 am

I agree with ya…I like Elle too, but she doesn’t mix with the morning show. I liked her with Ryan Cameron or on her own from 10-2p. Sooo sad how V103 is mixin’ it up. I feel so lost on the way in to work in the mornings now…I just flip from station to station. I guess I’ll just park it at The Steve Harvey Morning Show on 107.5 for my morning entertainment. :(

Consensus Vs Majority Rule

This is a report on the differences between consensus and majority rule. What is a consensus? Let’s start off by asking ourselves what is an actual consensus? A consensus is when everyone totally agrees on a specific issue or cause. A consensus is officially decided when each and every person who is in a specific situation has finalized an agreement on certain things. This is simply because it is a win-win situation. This is a win-win situation because it makes everyone happy and satisfied. Whereas a majority rule is voted and the person or persons who have the majority votes on a certain issue or cause, usually wins. There are losers in a majority rule. A majority rule here in the United States Political System does not work. There are winners and losers.

In the US Senate and House, politically speakers as well as officials will have to have a 60% majority to override a presidential veto as well as vote on a specific bill in Congress. Bills and Laws are passed based on a majority rule. Unfortunately, this is not working here in the United States. A consensus form of government needs to be established here in the United States Political System. There is too much fallout and issues when it pertains to a majority rule. When it comes to these two subjects, it is very important to focus on what will actually work here in the United States. An assessment must be made first and foremost to determine if a system of consensus would actually work here in the United States as well as in any body of government.

At least with this in mind, it is very important to focus on compromise as well as learning how to listen to others. Active listening is a skill that must be learned and mastered by everyone. A consensus is not only a compromise, but an agreement that satisfies everyone and this is something that should be enacted here in the United States as well as in human relationships all together. Do you know if men and women who are involved in relationships should learn how to listen to each other instead of taking the other person’s side all of the time. You do not have to submit to the authority of another simply because he or she is the dominant sex or the actual breadwinner in the household.

This means that you will have to respect the opinion of others and not lash out because someone is telling their side of their own story. This means that listening is extremely important. Each person must learn to gain the main ideas of the subject and to fully understand what the other person is saying. However, a majority rule only causes additional conflict and pain. This means that there are more people or another person has more information than you. This means that you are not gaining any additional facts pertaining to your subject on your own. This means that if another person has tangible evidence that is used against you or can override your decision in any way, this means that you had stolen your information that you had gained against another.

Just because someone’s social economical status is different than yours, does not mean that you are supposed to yield to them. You must be yourself regardless of your situation. Stand up for what is right for you. Just because someone is earning more money than you, does not give them power or dominion over you.

This means that if someone is gaining additional information from you, through methods of theft by deception, this means that they are dishonest in their efforts to obtain their own information. Just remember, theft by deception is a very serious crime. I can prove what I have as evidence. Whereas, those who are stealing your personal information by this form of practice are dishonest people and deceptive individuals. I would like to add that computer hacking, which I call safecracking is a serious crime. I am talking to those who are personally hacking and stealing others personal information for a living. If you are personally enjoying wrecking the lives of those who are trying to have an honest living, then you should be punished to the fullest extent of the law. This means that you need to be incarcerated for the rest of your lives. I am personally talking to everyone who is a safecrackers and using others information for their own personal gain. This is also a call for all of those that are involved in any criminal activities to stop it immediately.

This applies to men, women, and children. This is very serious!!!! I am saying this because there are those who I know personally who are involved in crimes at the present, to please turn yourselves into the authorities right now. You are only making things worse for your own selves. Remember, a consensus form of government will work a whole lot better than majority rule. This is the truth because our government is involved in a total gridlock of boggled up minds and those who are holding political positions are having a hard time making an agreement on things. Also, those who continue to judge others based on reputation alone instead of meeting with them face to face, I am talking directly to you as well. If one person has a problem with another, confront them face to face and resolve the problem in a constructive manner. This means having a positive end to a dreadful conflict or mild argument.

Therefore, I am talking to all of those who are disgruntled and do not have a life of their own, and living inside of the gossip of others, I am talking directly to you as well. Get a life of your own!!!! Stop listening to another person’s story that it causes a disruption in your own life. You need to examine your own self!!!! Stop listening to hearsay and deal with your own personal baggage!!!! I am speaking directly to those who enjoy judging others instead of meeting them face to face and confronting them about the problem or issue yourself. Stop telling others what they need when you do not have your own house in order!!!! Please keep your mouth shut if you have something negative to say about others all of the time. Remember we are grown people and not children. If you want to play on the school grounds by yourself and act like a child, please be my guest. You will be right by yourself.

Sincerely,

Anthony Hopkins

Dayton, Ohio

PS: This applies to all of those who have issues in North Carolina and Ohio with Universal Beef. This also applies to those defendants in a legal case to please come forward so we can talk things out professionally.

Dear Frank,

Good move putting Martin on. This is what needs to be done. Your radio talk show contemporaries like Hannity, Beck and Bortz Fox Cable are blasting Barack from all sides. Frank, you and Wanda have the power to blast back. Your listening audience believes in V103.

Jennifer Holiday said it in her song “Come Sunday”. The consensus in the informed professional black community is that V103 is in fear of speaking out. We need more Roland Martins.

We love clubbing, concerts, and having a good time, but the Democratic party is under attack by the meadia from all sides with weak and baseless claims against the First Black President this country has ever had. This man is fighting a losing battle and we as a peoplel sit back and do absolutely nothing. Like days of old, our slave mentality continues to send out a resounding “don’t put my name in it” message by doing absolutely nothing. Get the word out to our black leaders. All I hear is “did you get your stimulus chek”. Georgia’s budget for 2009 exceeded 20 billion dollars. It was rife with inflated salaries, ineffective, inefficient, biased, “good ole boy” initiatives and waste. Federal Programs for the empoverished are useless and overspent. We wait for the benefits to trickle down to us in the form of some worthless check while millions of our children become victims of a society of generational TANF recipients only to be railroaded into a privatized recivitious penal system designed as a means of payback for welfare.

The state of Georgia’s 2009 Single Audit report is a scathing assessment of what Purdue and his “good ole boy” network is doing to our community. Federal funds marked for entitlement programs are fraught with fraud, waste and abuse for EVERY YEAR THAT Purdue has been in office.

What can V103 do? Let’s start by Make sure that the powers that be hear from V103. Talk loud enough so that politicians hear about government contractors who get millions in federal contracts, but who offer no job and job training opportunities for the jobless, homeless ad welfare recipients. Our tax dollars need to remain in the black community.

Jennifer Holiday said it in her song “Come Sunday”.

    Sharon
    June 3, 2010 12:50 pm

We need to pass this message along. Frank and Wanda, I work for the State of Georgia. Whoever is in charge of these programs are doing nothing but padding their families income by hiring people they know. I have paid into the welfare system all my working life and have never received a check or food stamps, and that’s ok. But no one can tell me that Georgia can set up some comprehensive training program tied to covernment contractors who should be required to train and hire these recipients. They need to be off the system and on their own. Another thing, there is this organization called Coalition for Citizens of Georgia. We attended a meeting with them and like the other commenter said, the auditors have been reporting on people stealing and cheating the system for years. We need to join with these people and become part of a their watchdog group. They are asking to be empowered to serve in what they call an advisory capacity to have a voice in what goes on with OUR tax dollar. What went on down at Recorder’s Court was a crime againt humanity. We were treated worse than animals. Waiting in line for 8 hours without bathroom, water, or food for tickets that were already paid. Why couldn’t they have provided an option to pay on line? Mistreatment of African Americans at the hands of white owners of this state needs to stop. Please pass the message along. Coalition for Citizens of Georgia can be reached at equityforyou@comcast.net. Voice your issues and ideas. They are listening. Frank and Wanda need to devote more time for people like Roland Martin and less time to dropping it like it’s hot!

I am shocked that Frank and Wanda have not or are not interested in the most Tony Nominated Musical show on Broadway right now, FELA! which is presented by Jay-Z and Will&Jada Pinketh-Smith. Instead of talking about Wanda’s girls night out and the Car and Bike show, which do not benefit the community,we should talk about FELA who was a famous Singer and activist who fought for human rights. Speaking about or promoting this play and this Nigerian mans life would greatly benefit the African and African American Communities here. Please let the people know. It is still playing and would teach a lot of people about their heritage.

Dear ‘Billy Bob” (aka WPBill), In the interest of fairness and equality there doesn’t need to be a white power convention. After all who would we invite. Somehow I don’t think the Imperial Klans of America, or the Louisiana White Knights and the Knights of the White Camellia
would be interested in coming to a V103 event – do you? Besides, no one invited us to your lil ole tea paawty now did ya? The days of intimidation have long past. Talk to Boertz, Hannity, and Beck. Maybe they’ll support your white supremacy shin dig. LAMO

I have been listening to V103 for years and I just wanted to say that letting Elle Duncan go from the afternoon spot was an excellent idea. She really really was the worst! I thought she took away from Ryan Cameron in the afternoon as well. She is not DJ material at all and some of her comments were very offensive exspecially the one she made about Halle Berry not being able to keep a man when it is public knowledge that Halle had two husbands that cheated on her. I thought her comments were in poor taste. Elle cannot connect with people of any age.

I am a Black straight male who is a regular listener to the Frank and Wanda Morning Show. I just learned that Miss Sophia’s contract was not renewed and I am angry and troubled by this decision. I do not have all the facts that inform this decision, but I am not surprised. Frank and Miss Sophia were like oil and water — gasoline and fire. That’s because Miss Sophia did not defer to Frank and dared to challenge him on air. Unlike “the other women” at the station, Miss Sophia did not stroke Frank’s fragile masculine ego. Frank, nor the station, could not tolerate a gay drag queen who acted like he was “bigger” than him. This threatened the hetero-normative culture of the show and V103. They did not know how to deal with a gay drag queen who was independent minded and smart; the same way Whites do not know how to deal with Blacks who are independent-minded and smart. Miss Sophia’s role was to entertain heterosexuals without being a threat to heterosexuality; the same way Blacks are to entertain Whites without being a threat to White supremacy. Friday was my last day listening to this show. I will not support a show or a station that uses the Master’s tools while trying to dismantle the Master’s house. Audre Lorde has already advise us that this does not work.

Good morning Frank & Wonder, great show, and I enjoy it every morning since I relocated to Atlanta in January of 2010. I am enjoying your show as I e-mail your radio station this morning. I was listing to the young gentleman saying that all other nationality of women shower down goodness to out young black men in America today. Well!, he’s wrong, and I think he need to do his research. I have researched the behavior of different women from all walks of life, and there is no different from the black women here in America. The brothers has this blind spot in their minds, and they think it is a great deal for someone to travel outside their race.

I have been married 5 times, and one of them was from Iran, and that different culture was the worst for me to learn. I felt like a piece of his personal property. I have written a book on 3 of my marriages, and what caused the brake down of each one. I feel that these young people need to slow their roll, and get married to whom ever they can communicate with, even if she is of different race. A different race or a women bowing down to a man does not mean that the man have the open door to cheat. Some men like a women to be easy, and that easiness give them more room to have an extra relationship on the side. It took me 5 marriages to see that I was getting married for the wrong reason. I thought that if I married someone from outside my race. It would last me a life time. Well!, I had blinders on too, and I hope that the young man you was talking to this morning get it right with his relationship. He wouldn’t want to be 58 like me, and sitting back looking over my journey in life. I have writting this novel, called, Under The Veil, which takes the readers through a period of time in the author’s life when she was married many times, and seeking a better life through religon. I would like to share my story with anyone that needs to take a peak behind the doors of someone else’s life long journey.

Good morning. I love listening to the Frank and Wanda morning show. I know from time to time people sit in for Frank when he’s out, but Greg Street IS NOT the personality that should sit in for him. Even though Wanda is still there, the show has that rap vibe to it like Greg’s 6:00 p.m. show and that’s not what those of us want to hear in the morning while listening. If so, we wouldn’t tune in to the Frank and Wanda show…….we would tune in to 107.9. Please choose one of your other personalities other than Greg Street to sit in when Frank is out. Ryan is a much better morning host to sit in for Frank. I don’t listen to Ryan’s afternoon show, but I like when he sits in because he and Wanda are funny together and keep the show pretty much going like what your morning listeners are used to. Why does someone have to sit in for Frank anyway??!! When Wanda’s out, I don’t recall anyone sitting in for her….. Plus, most morning listeners don’t like all that rap / hip-hop mess that’s been playing this week in Frank’s absence. It sounds JUST LIKE Greg Street’s 6:00 p.m. show…….so “hood”……UGH!!!!! No disrespect to Greg Street, because he does his thing. It’s just that “his thing” isn’t for me as one of your “mature” morning show listeners who likes some hip-hop and NO rap AT ALL. It’s not for me.

I agree wholeheartedly! Please . . . . no rap on the Morning Show . . . I look for intelligent discussions and something that will make me laugh at the start of the day. Greg (and rap) is fine for 6:00pm when I look for the party pick-me-up at the end of the day but please NOT at 6:00am . . .

I just want to say to all of those individuals who are still living inside of a shell of jealousy and hate, to please allow God to restore your life and do not covet!!! It does not make any sense to engage in covetousness and disrupt the lives of others. Please allow yourself time to heal from your own emotional pain by gaining a sense of awareness of your own self and stop interfering in the life of others. I am saying all of this to say this, there are a lot of grown people out there who are still living inside of their own past. These people that I am referring to are called vultures of society who suck up the life of others. I also would like to mention to all of the females that I have a lot of love for all of you. In spite of all of your trials and tribulations, I still love you for all of your efforts that you are making in your own lives. Keep up the good work ladies. Stay strong especially those who are raising their own children by themselves. Stay in the fight and keep up the good fight. This means to stay focus, positive, and proactive. Men, please stay positive and do not disrupt nor disrespect our real sisters out there!!! They need us just like we need them. Keep your head up okay!!! Never disrespect women because this can come right back to haunt you in return. Never judge another!!! You can make an opinion and leave it!!!! There are traditions and customs when it comes to respect of the opposite sex, and if you respect your mother and father, always respect your spouse or significant other!!!! This is not a hate on hate session, this are the facts of life!!!! I am only making an opinion and not judgments towards others. I have my own share of challenges and I know you do too!!! I only stay positive, proactive, and inside of the Hands of God each and every single day. If all of those haters have a problem dealing with a strong positive minded African American Male like myself, then maybe the problem is you and not the other person. Remember that character is examined and judged and not the whole person. To be a judge, you first must understand all of the facts and gain them. If you are not God Himself, then you are not allowed to Judge!!!! Opinions are formed and statements are made, but we do not have to sink inside of the sand because a person makes a statement about the other person. Keep your head up always and remain proactive instead of reactive!!!!

Sincerely,
Anthony Hopkins

Dear V103:

I am writing for your assistance. I am a proud member/parent of a student at the Eagles Landing Dance Center in McDonough, Georgia. I am writing to you for your assistance. Some of our girls personally auditioned for Debbie Allen’s Summer Intensive Workshop in Los Angeles, California, and six were chosen. This is such a great opportunity for these girls. This will definitely be an experience that these young ladies will NEVER forget. These girls put their hearts and souls into their craft and this would be an awesome way to hone their skills and map out their future.
I would like to ask you if you can, in ANY WAY, assist our girls with lodging, whether it be the rental of a house, apartment, or even a generous person with room for seven or who would like to donate lodging for this great adventure. The workshop is from July 4-August 2. If you would like to assist in any other way, just know that it will be greatly appreciated.
Check out our website at http://www.eagleslandingdancecenter.com. You can also check out the workshop’s website at http://www.debbieallendanceacademy.com.

Thank you so much for your time and attention. I HOPE AND PRAY to hear from you!

Thanks again.

Hello, Derrick, Tuesday on body donations many people are not clear on organs donation. There is a vast need for organs and before they are accepted, there is a long medical process to ensure that the organs are medical safe and can be use; the organs from people are not just taken, they are tested to ensure they are safe to be use. As for people being buried with all body parts, many of them do; as a Funeral Service Technician, we can embalm without making the body hard and stiff which make it harder to dress the deceased. You should also know that we can also perform embalming that will leave the body soft and manageable where we can dress the deceased with ease. We can also dress the body without cutting the clothing down the back or splitting the pants as well. There are some people who will often try to hug the body and cause the body to turn slighly and if the clothing is not well tucked under and pin down, people will see actually how we dressed the body and it is embrassing. We take every step and ensure we have fully dressed the deceased in the best profession we know how. You are right; embalming fluid make bodies in most cases very stiff; and we try to make the body soft and manageable and soft to the touch if the family member desire and want to feel and touch the body for some closure. Embalming Fluids are very, very strong and require a mask when using it in the preparation room. Many of us are use to it and we continue our work using embalming fluids because bodies needs embalming if a family select a traditional funeral arrangement.

To whom it may concern, June 11, 2010

I am writing this letter out of extreme desperation. I don’t know where else to turn to get the justice that my children and I deserve. I am a 36 year old divorced mother of five children, ages 14, 12,10,7 and 3. On November 23, 2008 my world turned upside down. I was at the time living in low income housing and in transition of nursing schools while working part time and raising my five children independently. My now 12 year old daughter was failing a few classes in school and I disciplined her for not completing an assignment that was due the next day that she had more than enough time to complete. The form of discipline that I used was spanking with a belt. This was not common behavior for me, so my oldest daughter became scared and ran to my older sister’s house that lived across the parking lot from me at the time. As a result my parents called the police who arrived shortly there after. They never called me to say what happened or came by to see for themselves what had transpired. As a result of the spanking, Children’s Services Bureau (CSB) became involved. I would like to add that the sister my daughter ran to was a CSB employee. CSB became involved for at least the next four months of our lives. I attended parenting classes and random drug screens because of false allegations of drug use. I went immediately when told I had to take a drug urine test and of course it was negative. It was one of the most humiliating situations of my life. I had to urinate in front of a female worker to verify that I did not taint it. During all of the CSB involvement my mother decided to file for custody of all of my children. This didn’t make sense to me because I thought to myself, what kind of mother tries to intentionally hurt her child instead of helping her. Both of my parents are in their seventies and not in the best of health and were awarded temporary custody of all of my children on April 7, 2009. Unfortunately, I was not able to pay for a very experienced attorney. This was two days before my oldest daughter’s thirteenth birthday. On this court date CSB came to court on my behalf to defend the type of parent that I am and to state that the incident was isolated. The pediatrician’s office, the daycare they attended and the children’s counselor’s were in favor of me and the type of parent I am. I was only allotted every other weekend and every Wednesday to see my children. As you can imagine this was extremely devastating and painful. Throughout this experience I missed my children deeply.
My ex-husband and my youngest son’s father both verbalized that they did not want custody they just wanted to be able to see the children. Over the course of a year, several incidents have occurred at the hand of my mother. The police were notified that my youngest child was roaming the neighborhood. They returned him to her home and she was shocked as she was unaware that he had left the home. My 12 year old daughter was placed into an inpatient adolescent psychiatric facility by my mother due to her telling her grandmother “she wanted to kill her,” because she was unhappy with her living situation. My oldest daughter was forced to ride in a police care as a scare tactic to get her to accept her environment. As a result of my children being displaced from their home three of them are now being forced to be on medication. These incidents cause me great concern as a parent that is loving, compassionate and completely capable of caring for my children.
This situation has dragged out for over a year and a final decision was made June of 2010 for custody to be awarded to the maternal grand parents. During this ordeal I was still able to graduate from nursing school July 31, 2009. I have moved from low-income housing and now live in a spacious four bedroom house in a desirable neighborhood. I am currently working as a pediatric nurse, and caring for other people’s children in their homes. I have never been in any legal trouble and feel that there has been a serious injustice done to me and my children. I want to do everything in my power to prevent another parent who is defeating the odds of poverty and lack of education from losing their children to a failed court system. I need help with appealing the Lucas County Juvenile Court’s decision. Where I feel that I am lacking is in financial resources to obtain competent legal representation. If you can assist in either area it will be greatly appreciated. Please help me! Please help me and my children be reunited.

Respectfully Yours,

Christina Carter

Where’s Miss Sophia?

I love Elle. I think she’ll do a great job no matter what. But what’s going on? Atlanta is known for being inclusive to all people including gays. Miss Sophia repped a huge part of the community. So could the people station answer why someone that was so loved by so many people gay or straight isn’t at the station anymore? Why after four years was Miss Sophia let go?

i love the F&W show. I been listening to 103 since Mike and Carol days way before they came on. Now I have moved back to NY and I still listen to F&W online like I was still living in ATL. In NY we have 5-4 morning shows and I no one can top Frank and Wanda. Love them, but that move they made to take Sophia off was a very bad move. For the first time in 16 years, i turned them off!! Ell is fake and she is trying too hard. Sophia was a natural, she brought flavor to the show. There was soul in it!! Atlanta is all about diversity, flavor, soul, that is why the City is LOVED BY EVERYONE AROUND THE WORLD. Folks always say, OH I LOVE ATLANTA!! I am from NY but FOREVER I LOVE ATLANTA. To take Sohpia off the station YOU WILL LOSE RATINGS!!! My friends from Atlanta are calling each other up and can’t believe what happened!! We are all sad about it. It’s not the same, and you think you all are doing something better? It got worse when you put ELLE Duncan on. She just don’t have it. Someone is going to pick up Sophia and she is going to very well. Thanks to 103!!!

I was listening to some of the town hall meeting. It was brought up that the kids do better with the father and mother.I think it matters on the situation.Me and my sister did not grow up our whole lives everyday with our father there and we have done quite well.I have seen situations with both father and mother there and incidents may come up where both daughters have to stay back at home for more than a year.Is there anything wrong with that no.I have seen situations where the kids have seen daddy cheating the whole time. Now was that healthly for them to see no.I am glad i did not knock my mom for her decisions she made.My pops is there for us when we need him and vice versa. My kids are straight with thier mom my daughters are sweet and sometimes do need straightned out.Honor roll student. They will remain independent until the right man come along and if he do not act right cheating, beating it is not going down over here,There is no excuses.and i do not play the radio. My dad did not abuse my mom. They divorced all that put your hands on each other is not neccessary. My daughter left a note under my pillow saying how she loves me and i am a fun mom and how i let her get her way sometimes not all the time though.Shes right. We do not let anybody in just cause society say abusive or not at lest the father is there. No You keep your hands to yourself or you go home with no hands.

You are correct the issue has gotten out of hand i was complaining in 2005 right before they broke into my mom house and stole her t.v.My complaint was about the crewfew. Now things are gonna tighten up with the new mayor.there.The kids parents i spoke to when they acted out in the hood had mom and pops there if not they had some male figure staying there and they still acted the way they wanted to.Sit in the front yard and throw trash around. Not picking it up and the adult act like they did not see it.Gang initiation.Oh No.Not turning back.me and my family are straight were we are.I do agree with the respect issue.Probably if they did not do things in front of them then they would be more respectful.I do not play the radio so we are straight over here and gonna still pray the issues are handled and under control so people can go out and enjoy themselves and not have to worry about being harrassed and assasinated by thier own people.

Its amazing that when our youth terrorizes the more affluent areas of Atlanta, Screen on the Green for example, there is a massive movement by law enforcement to want to “act” aggressively and promptly to secure the safety of the public. However, as a worker in the downtown five points area, there are a group of thugs that have been terrorizing the area between Five Points Marta Station and 82 Peachtree street daily and consistently as the summer heat! Robberies and beat downs of innocent commuters has been prevalent in that area and absolutely nothing has been done. Not to mention the constant harassment of “I got good weed” and “2 for 5 shawty.” I am sure businesses are suffering. Who wants to come shop in an unsafe environment? Who would feel safe when there are no police officers in sight, while a block away to the NORTH at the corner of Peachtree and marietta street cops are posted damm near every 50 yards. Is it because GSU owns half of the city and get more attention for the protection of there drive-by students???? Please, where is the HELP for the average Atlantan that voted YOU in Mr. Mayor????? How do we expect to revitalize the true heart of the city when you and the chief are focused on constituents to the NORTH? Or do you plan at all???? SMDH

I’m a longtime loyal listener to V103. I listen to Frank & Wanda every morning on my way to work. Once at work, I turn on Elle around lunch and follow that up with Ryan Cameron til I get off work and drive home. I spent the month of May 2010 at the hospital with my husband. When I returned to work on June 1st, I was surprised to NOT hear Ms. Sophia giving me some entertainment news around 8:05am. Then I caught the tail end of Elle’s show later that week saying she’s moving to the morning show with Frank and Wanda and thanking her fans for making her show #1 in it’s timeslot. Can someone PLEASE tell me why VJays are moving around, if it’s permanent, and what happened to Ms. Sophia?!?! I miss her/him!

June 17, 2010 11:23 pm

I wanted to reach FRANK SKI, there is something that needs to be said about the commuinity I lived in. I have observed personally some of the most racist tendencies going on right before my eyes. The commuinity is Barrow County. And if you are arrested in Barrow County, and you are black they make it so that you wont get out. This is a town that just some years back used to have KKK meetings and marches on the main road. I would hope that maybe someone can shine some light on this unrighteousness of this county and their sometime laws. I have called the NAACP and yet no answer. If you are white you get things done faster and people are easier to work with you. However, if you are black they rather hold you in jail or profile you in the street. Please email me directly so that I may give you more depth into the situation. PLEASE.

Then, put Elle on the morning show and Greg Street in super boring.I have been talking to alot of people on facebook and we feel let down. Maybe you should take a poll of the listeners to see what will work because I am about to change stations. The only thing that is good is Ryan and to tell the truth he should host the morning show.

What is life?

What is life? Let’s look at what we actually think what life really mean to us? Life is not only the air that we breathe. It is our entire existence itself. It consists of air, hearing, sight, touch, smell and taste. It also consists of the things that we are learning from the environment that we choose to live. What is life you are asking? Life is the essence that has been provided from our Creator. God is our creator and the person that gives us life. Life itself comes from our mother and father. It also comes from God and Jesus Christ themselves. In the planning stages, it is man and woman themselves to determine when a life will come into existence. This process is called procreation. Procreation is a process and planning of an existing embryo itself. God told Adam and Eve to bring life into existence and multiply. This means that men and women to whom they choose as a mate are supposed to decide when to have children. This is a very meticulous process. Men and women are making foolish choices when it comes to this process. Trying to decide on whom to have as a mate to become a potential parent is not very easy. It requires a great deal of thinking and planning. In our economic crisis today, many have decided not to become parents. I cannot blame you for not becoming a parent. I have decided to wait myself because things are extremely difficult right now. This is because it costs too much to take care of a house as well as children themselves. Therefore, some men and women who have children are having it really hard themselves. This is because they are in an economic strain themselves. This means that they do not have time to take care of their own households as well as themselves. These people will have to work additional jobs just to make ends meet. This also means that they do not have time to spend with God as well. There are also times when communication between men and women tend to break down. This means that men and women are not on the same page when it comes to dealing with finances as well as taking care of their homes. When it comes to dealing with children, most are placing their own children into daycare or they are relying on other relatives and friends to take care of their own children. This also causes a very great deal of stress on both men and women. In most cases, it is the women who are doing most of the work. It is the women themselves who are taking care of the home as well as the finances themselves. This is because men are reluctant to take care of their own responsibilities as fathers of their own children. It is men who are giving their own children’s mothers very serious problems and grief. What is life you are asking again? It is really what you make of it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Life is not only the existence that one must learn to appreciate; it is also the tasks that one must learn to complete in a very positive manner. Learning how to appreciate what God has given you, is very important. I know for myself that I will make a very good father, because I understand what it is really like to struggle and survive in a forever changing environment. This is also because I had to raise my siblings as a child myself as well as my niece and nephews when their parents had excessive things to do. I understand a plight and daily task that pertains to life itself. This means that I understand and share your point of view.

I am speaking to all of the women of the world who are raising their own children by themselves as well as those who have decided not to have children based on economic situations and conditions. Men will have to learn how to communicate better with their own spouses and significant others in order to establish a basis of understanding. Maybe this will never be established because of the so called ego problem that some of them possess. Some men tend to become extremely selfish in their own ways, but it is up to women who are involved in a relationship with them to understand what are egos compared to selfishness. Communication is a two way street. It is not one sided like some people tend to make it out to be. Communication and life goes hand in hand. Communication and life are both unique and intricate. This means that it is the language that we speak and the message that we convey that sends a message to another person. It is how this message is interpreted. Will this message be positive or negative? It is up to us on how this message is translated. How things are translated vary according to individual. It is variable, but it is also based on how this message is sent. Learning how to understand another person takes practice and experience. Some men and women do not know how to understand each other because they do not know to understand themselves as people. When you do not know how to understand yourself, this is a very serious problem. God can restore you and not man himself. God can use people in a positive way to help you; only if you give God that chance.

Sincerely,
Anthony Hopkins

Universal Cover Up #2

My name is Anthony Hopkins and I am writing to you from the Dayton, Ohio area. I want to inform you of a universal cover up in the Dayton, Ohio Montgomery County Courts System. For example, there are issues pertaining to public safety that are not addressed. In addition, there are also issues in the Civil Courts System and how cases are handled, that has caused me a great deal of concern. An example of this is the issuing of subpoenas and summons from one state to another.
I really think that a proper way of filing and sending out summons to defendants should be handled expeditiously and electronically. The sole purpose of this is to make certain that all defendants are properly served and the judicial process will be conducted smoothly. At this time, mailing out a summons to defendants is not the proper way of doing things in the Dayton, Ohio Montgomery County Courts System.
The universal cover up consists of crimes that are within corrupt officials that are not addressed by the media as well as others. Members of law enforcement, information technology as well as all administrative departments are involved. This is simply because there are members as well as employees inside of these departments who possess jobs that are supposed to protect and serve members of the general public and their respected citizens. In addition, there are also members of library staff who are responsible for engaging in crimes such as password fraud. This is because in some cases, certain employees break the law by stealing information that is supposed to be erased but instead, they intercept printed information from the mainframe system by obtaining this before it is erased. Therefore certain library patrons’ information is used illegally and without authorization from the patrons themselves.
This has happened to me and my information has been illegally used. I know this because I am a victim of identity theft and fraud. Within the past 12 years, I had been hacked while I have been online. This is because my information had been stolen and used by criminals who are employed in the field of information technology. You have members of information technology that work for law enforcement, libraries, colleges and universities, as well as state, federal and local governments. The same people who are supposed to protect you are those who tend to commit these crimes and get away with it.
I think all of these employees as well as those that are employed in protective services need to be under close scrutiny. They need to be carefully evaluated and interrogated by law enforcement officials themselves to prevent breeches in security. Also, confidentiality needs to be ensured to everyone who is gaining resources while online at any public facility.
Sincerely,
Anthony Hopkins

COMMENT ON THE SINGLE WOMEN AND CHURCH. 1ST THE PASTOR IS NOT GOD AND A LOT OF WOMEN GO THERE AND WORSHIP THE PASTOR. 2ND HOW IS THE PASTOR GOING TO TELL ANYBODY ON HOW TO FIND A MAN WHEN THEY R USUALLY CHEAPING ON THEIR WIVES.

I wish I could get through on the line. Jus heard the comments/argument about church. Sometimes I wish Frank would shut the hell up and take a break from “KNOWING EVERYTHING.” Most women are told from the beginning to find a man in church. For you to act like you’ve NEVER heard that is so over- dramatic. It sounds like you just said that to make your point only you are loud and publicly wrong. An idiotic wrong. What a silly tantrum Frank. Shut up sometimes and listen!!!

Church is not for looking for men.Church is for focusing on the God and the word(bible). Wanting a God fearing man vs searching i do not engage in that.I do not believe in dating services but i do believe there is someone for everyone.I have friends luckily i have known them a long time and there is respect between us.All that laying up screwing everyday weekend not on my focus list. The last place a man tried to holla at me was the grocery store. One thing i can give him he was working stock.I was in the process of moving so i kept it real there is no need in exchanging numbers when i knew i was leaving. So we conversted and he complemented me and i said thank you and we kept it moving.I do not go search. To me if you go to church just to look for a man then something is not right the focus is not on the father.Well everyone have a blessed day!Much love to everyone.

I have been an avid listener for years. I’m not sure what is not working but Elle Duncan does not mix well with Frank and Wanda. It feels like Elle is trying to hard to be super “cool” and “hip” and it comes across as inauthentic. I’m disappointed because I enjoyed her afternoon segment and listened to it daily. She came across more mature and knowledgeable in that time slot. In the morning slot it seems as if she has dumbed herself down and she just comes across as silly. The “Bust it” report concept is juvenile as well. I prefered Ms. Sophia’s style of delivery. I will say though that I am enjoying the young lady who took Elle’s 10-2 time slot. She is fantastic, so don’t change that.

hey frank and wanda i have something to tell you. Well.. i was at the cumberland mall on Saturday June 19th , and i saw Toya from The Tiny&Toya Show. And i went up to her to ask her to take a photo with me and at first she didnt hear me, but then i said it a little loder and she heard me. So she looked at me like she didnt want to take the photo and then she went to do something else after i asked her to take the photo. When i was still waiting to get mi picture taken with her she paused and looked at me and then she took the photo. And what i thought she did to me was very disrespectful and rude because of her actions. And i just wanted to let you know that im 13 yrs old and i can sing. i just wanted to let you know.

please and thank you !

Frank Ski,

Here is a topic that I think would be interesting for one of your morning shows.

Talk about how ladies excessive use of cell phones have reduced their windows of opportunity to be approached by men.

We can clearly see that women talk on phones far more than men. How many times do you think a man may want to approach a lady, but she is so occupied in a phone conversation, that she doesn’t even notice him trying to make a connection? Or, he may be reluctant to approach because she is obviously busy and may consider it rude to be interrupted.

Just a suggestion!

I heard Frank say that the single female deejays at V103 may as well forget about getting married . . . “ain’t no man coming” based on the discussion the other morning. From Elle’s report on 6/24/10, it sounds like THAT’S what has gotten Al Gore in trouble …… LOL

Hi, I was listening your V103 late one night in 1999 and there was a response song to Mary J Blige’s “Your Child” with lyrics like “this kid ain’t my child, the &$#% tried to set me up, I’m living in a fantasy.” I was wondering if anyone knew what the title and artist to that hard to find response song is. Thanks in advance.

V-103 has made a big, big mistake letting Ms. Sophia go. She was the highlight of the MORNING show with her girl talk.

I am no longer a V-103 morning show listener – Ryan should be doing the morning show BECAUSE Frank and Wanda are so boring.

I’m now listening to the Ricky Smiley Show – enjoying RICKEY and Gary with a T now.

If the BET Awards performance of El DeBarge has shown us all anything – Where the crowd was on their feet and sang every word to the songs. And the standing ovation he received. it shows us that the music industry has done a complete turn for the worse in the past 10 years.
Even the performances of some the so called “Stars” on this show – pinpointed drastically the significant difference between what the PRODUCT that entertainers of the past put out and what this new “music industry” is telling us is acceptable.
It’s like NIGHT & DAY. Quality vs B.S..
Radio Stations like V-103 continue to play this NON-SENSE and push this off as being “good music”.
A perfect example – the level of the performance by Alicia Keys and the performance of RickRoss/Ludacris/et Al at the end of the show. It’s really sad – Entertainers vs- BS – Pay-ola is still alive!

Excited to hear Osa this morning, hopefully he stays or Elle Duncan returns. Elle on the morning show is “crowded”. Elle is great with the entertainment report, however she seems not to “fit in” in the morning. Please put her back in her time slot. If not Osa is the best. Not feeling the others at all.

I listen to the show every morning while i wait for the bus with my little brother. I was wonderin do you all know of any places that help disabled single mothers. I have used every single search engine i can think of, I have gone down to my local social services office to see if they could help but the only help they gave me was to apply for social security. I have been fighting my case since 2005 when I tuenrd 18 but still nothing has happened. I have been denied 6 times and i cannot find a law group that will take my case. I even had one place tell me that they felt that they could not win my case so they would not take it! I am at the end of my rope and dont know what else to do i have 4 months to be out of where I am staying with no family and no where else to go. If you all can help or if you know of an organization that can help please e- mail me at deyonznyiah@yahoo.com at any time. thanx.

Frank and Wanda, I truly appreciate you talking to parents about their responsibility in making sure their children are educated and literate. In today’s society man of our children learn rap lyrics as quickly as their abc’s. Unfortunately a lot of the things they listen to are not age appropriate or worth repeating. Here are some websites I would like for you to check out and tell the parents about to help their children learn.Smartshorties.com is a multiplication cd that uses modern beats with multiplication lyrics; parents can also order student books. Please look at flocabulary .com this site has books and cds for each grade level with a matching lyric book and 3-4 vocabulary assignments to help with comprehension; my son loves it. The even have a book on how to teach kids to write their own songs. Entitled http://www.flocabulary.com/warp_preview.html children learn.. Another book on this site The Rapper’s Handbook is a HIGH-INTEREST BOOK builds writing and critical thinking skills by analyzing the lyrics of professional rappers. Students examine Jay-Z lyrics for metaphor use, Kanye West for personification, Eminem for internal rhyme and many more. Lyrics are analyzed under a microscope to figure out exactly how the best emcees craft their lines.http://www.flocabulary.com/rappershandbook_preview.html

I realize expensive cars are part of the rap/hip hop culture but would like to here part of a morning show segment dedicated to this exuberance. I found this article interesting, Headline: Range Rover creator dies, regrets its bling-bling image. Quote from article:”Sadly, the 4×4 has become an acceptable alternative to Mercedes or BMW for the pompous, self-important driver,” Mr. King told London’s The Daily Mail in 2004. “To use them for the school run, or even in cities or towns at all, is completely stupid.” Link: http://ow.ly/27h1X

Hi there, I am a huge Janet Jackson fan and I was just watching an interview with her in which t hey began talking about her hair. I don’t know what the big deal is because that is how her hair looks without the wigs and the weaves. It looks nice on her, but it is not really anything new. she is just taking a break from the fake hair. it is not like she had long hair and cut it all off. so let’s keep it real you guys and let hollywood think that we are ignorant. love u janet.,

i watched the bet awards and i enjoyed chris brown’s tribute to michael jackson. However, i am disappointed that people are saying that he was fake crying during his performance. obviously he is still being crucified for the rihanna incident. we should all stop beating a dead horse with a stick and move on. obviously rihanna has because everytime you look up she is laying up with a new guy. this does not seem like a victim who is tramautized and advocating on behalf of battered women, beside, we don’t know what rihanna was saying to provoke chris anyway. not saying he was right, but loosen up and let the boy redeem himself like you do every other celebrity who has had t he same transgression or worse. in the words of donny hathaway, remember he ain’t heavy, he’s our brother.

I am writing you this morning to tell you about a special project our Kids Foundation is putting together to help bring life back to the Butler Street YMCA and to the city of Atlanta…

The Butler Street YMCA is where Martin Luther King grew up and learned life skills, its where Jesse Hill Jr. and other great black leaders in Atlanta met to improve the community, in fact, they used to call this place the “black city hall of atlanta!” visit this weblink… http://sweetauburn.us/ymca.htm

Now the “Black City Hall of Atlanta” is rundown and looking like it could be shut down… But we are taking action!!! On August 14th, 2010 BACK2BASICS KIDS FOUNDATION and the Butler Street YMCA are teaming up to clean up and restore the YMCA. Back2Basics will be bringing brand new programs and activities to the YMCA, in fact, they have already started these programs and donated time and equipment to the YMCA…

We are looking for volunteers, sponsors, partners, and support in this great cause… Please do not sleep on this opportunity as this is huge to making change in our community.

If there is anyway you could help please call 678-648-5622.

For more information visit http://www.back2basicshoops.com

Saggin Pants

Letter from a college student

The other day, a friend of mine visited me in the lobby of my dorm just to chat while her laundry was drying. As we were chatting, two young freshmen came by. One of the 2 boys wanted to ‘talk’ to my friend (as in date). She asked him how old they were, and both of the boys replied 18. My friend and I both laughed hysterically because we are both 22 years old. After my friend left, the young men were still hanging around and one wanted to know how
he could gain her interest.

The first thing I told him to do was to pull up his pants! He asked why, and then said he liked saggin ‘ his pants. I told him to come over to my computer and spell the word saggin’. Then I told him to write the word saggin ‘ backwards.
S-A-G-G-I-N
N-I-G- G-A-S

I told him the origin of that look was from centuries ago. It was the intent of slave owners to demoralize the field workers by forbidding them to wear a belt as they worked in the fields or at any other rigorous job. In addition, men in prison wore their pants low when they were ‘spoken for’. The other reason their pants looked like that was they were not allowed to have belts because prisoners were likely to try to commit suicide. And, saggin’ pants prevents you from running.
We as young Black people have to be the ones to effect change. We are dying. The media has made a mockery of the Black American. Even our brothers and sisters from Africa don’t take us seriously. Something as simple as pulling up your pants and standing with your head held high could make the biggest difference in the world’s perception of us. It is time to do right by ourselves.. We need to love and embrace each other.
No one is going to do that for us.

It all comes down to perception. What people perceive is what reality to them is. We have to change not only the media’s perception of us, but we need to change our perception of ourselves.
Remember all eyes are on you Black Man. All eyes are on you Black Woman. All eyes are on your Black Child. People point the finger at us and expect us to engage in negative and illegal activities, to manifest loud, boisterous behavior, to spend our hard earned money in their stores, buying goods we don’t need, or really want. We have allowed not only the media, but the government and the world to portray us as a ‘sub-culture. ‘ They have stripped our culture down to the point where the image of Black people is perpetuated as rappers, athletes, drug users, and consumers of junk food, expensive tennis shoes, expensive cars, expensive TVs, cell phones and not investing
in homes for our families.
We are so much more!!!!!!!

To all our Black Men: It’s time to stand up. There are billions of Black Women who want to do nothing more than worship the ground that you walk on. We are so in love with your potential. We want to have your back, we want to love, support and cherish every ounce of your being. But with that you have to show that you are willing to be the head of our households. You have to prove yourselves worthy of our submission. We need you to be hard working…Not a hustler. We need you to seek higher education, to seek spirituality. We need you to stand! And trust us; we will have your back. We know that it gets hard. We know you get weary. Trust and believe that there is nothing that a Black Man and a Black Woman can’t handle with GOD on their side.

To all our Black Women: It is also time for you to stand up. It is time for you to stop using our bodies as our primary form of communication. It is time to be that virtuous woman that Proverbs spoke of. You cannot sit by the wayside while our men are dying by the masses. You are the epitome of Black Love. It starts within you. You need to speak with conviction to let not only our Black Men know, but the world, that you are the Mothers of this world. You are so powerful. You are so beautiful. You need to love and embrace every blessing God has given us physically, emotionally and spiritually.

For all our Black Children : We need to love them. We need to teach them. We need to stand up for them We need to protect them. We need to show them that there are no ‘get rich quick’ schemes. We need to tell them that they WILL die trying if they submit to a life of crime and deceit. We need to teach our children that no one will love them the way we can. And being a basketball player, a rapper, or a drug dealer is not reality. It’s not realistic and only a small percentage of people ever make it as a rapper or professional athlete. We need to teach our children that we can be more than rappers and athletes. We can be the owners of these sports teams. We can be the CEO’s of OUR fortune 500 companies. We need to believe in literacy. I am almost certain if we were to look back to the 1930′s and 40′s, the literacy rates for Black American Children are probably still the same.

Please Keep This Going & Have a wonderful day

‘This is the year of empowerment. ‘
God will empower us to accomplish things this year
that will be mind blowing’.

Ok why i was talking to my friend last night and he said something about what a fellow said in 2004.I said tell that man do he remember when i washed a pair of his draws(underwear) and i had a stain that bleach could not get out.I am just saying though i could not mess with that after that.Your underwear should be clean i do not care if you have them on all day.No stains should be in your underwear it should be clear. So a.Women was he taking it up the a.. then. b. He was just plain nasty. I pick a cause that crazy Sonja told me somthing was going on in the background.Would never say names though. So why talk about someone 6 years later unless you want to be put on BLAST.Back then he was staying off of Covington Hwy.The ones who spend everyday talking about everyone and i know them know not to come to me with it. They fouling them women knowing they like women or men.Sometimes as women we can be looking at buff fine pretty boy that never slacks on the women he accumulate and they are down with that man.If we are together and you spend the night and have to put on something to coverup if you grab my nightdress you are something.Don’t play with me i am glad i exprience certain things so i will not be nieve. Some of these women walk around dumbfounded. Some like me are top of game.So if a guy is conversating about a women and says she is a hoe i say them in response you should fit perfect with her i do not jump on thier sides to quick.I do not care if i have known them 10 plus years i know if they are settled or still hoeing i know what they do.So if a guy talks about me i will remind him of the time his own mama said girl he is a hoe.I meet plenty of mamas realer than real.Yes they love thier sons dearly that were just real.Promise you they know to respect me and i respect them unless it gets disrespectful. Now let me brush my shoulders off and keep it moving.I keeps my panties clean.Much love to everyone have a great day!

Hello, My name is Rachael Gethers. Sadly, as of yesterday, my mother has informed me that my attendance at FAMU will no longer happen due to financial reasoning. I’m not sure where I stand on school for next semester or how I’m supposed to feel about the situation. From a realistic point of view, I understand we don’t have the resoucres to pay for it out of pocket and I understand the importance of not being in debt coming out of college. From a personal point of view, for lack of bettter word, I can’t help but to feel disappointed and hurt. The real question is, where will I be attending school next semester with it only being a month away? Most of the schools I were accepted to were out of state or wanted me to start in the summer. At this point, I just need advice.

I heard a song the other day in a car next to me at Greenbriar mall. I asked the guy in the car who it was and he said one of his buddies by the name of Tonio Jennings. Some of the words in the song were steppin, steppin and I am moving on — got my bags packed baby. I can’t get the hook out of my mind. Anybody know anything about this guy and how I might can find the song?

Hi,

I happened to be listening (with my 7 year old son) this morning when Frank Ski interviewed Ms. Flenory. Although I can appreciate an interview or focus on how incarceration affects a family as a whole, I felt as though the actions of the young man in question was being glorified in the interview. Of course, the mother will always highlight the best in her child. But it seemed as though Frank was also glorifying the behavior. What should have been a cautionary tale became glorification of illegal behavior. I think that this is irresponsible of the “People Station”. It’s great to be open minded and allow others to have their say, but we need to be careful of the examples that we are setting.

Anthony Hopkins
July 15, 2010 2:10 pm

I know that incarceration affects families on a daily basis. This is especially if you know for yourself that your son or daughter has been wrongfully incarcerated for a crime that they did not commit. This is very painful and you know that it hurts you to see any of your relatives behind bars. They need to be out and helping the family. There is hope. The hope comes from the government having an agency called the innocents project in your state and God Himself.

Men, Women, & Communication#2

The differences between men & women when it comes to communication are that men are apt to resolve problems quickly and women are more prone to solutions through direct concessions. These concessions are done through compromise. It might take a while to come to a compromise with women. This is because some men cannot be trusted. Men tend to evade the truth by looking directly away from women when they are confronted. When women look at men directly inside of their eyes, this is an indication that a woman is looking for a man to tell her the truth.

This is direct communication and it is face to face. I am the type of man who will look directly inside of anyone’s face while I am talking to them. A woman of any type does not have to worry about me hiding anything from her. I am the type of person who will reveal anything to anyone at anytime. Some people who refuse to acknowledge the truth will become quarrel minded, and become confrontational. This is because they are afraid of being confronted about their own active issues. In a relationship, it is very important to reveal the truth to your spouse or significant other in a relationship of any type.

If your relationship is one that pertains to cohabitation or a traditional marriage, then communication is very important. Men and women are supposed to learn how to listen and listen with the fullest intent of understanding the other person. I am a person who will take time out of my busy day to listen to the concerns of others. No matter what I am doing in my life, when it comes to a relationship, I know that good communication is the key to a successful relationship. Men must learn how to listen to women. Women must learn how to listen to men as well. Therefore, it is important to understand the other person.

Men and women are totally different when it comes to communication. This is because women are more social than men in the first place. Women are more inclined to communicate for the sole purpose of establishing relationships and gaining a sense of a common ground. When this is established, then a woman will be content in her social awareness and she will gain a sense of trust with others as long as trust and understanding has been complete and established with that person that she is in contact with. Men on the other hand establish relationships differently. Men tend to establish relationships through communication with a specified purpose. This is not a competitive thing; it is about establishing contacts with the opposite sex to the point that it becomes a mission for him.

Perhaps in some cases men just wanted to have a relationship without boundaries. A relationship without boundaries and limitations when it pertains to women is so shallow minded. I mean that men just want to try to do something to the point that it is like a lion searching for food. I am not saying that all men are like this. Their intentions and expectations change according to time. Women are intellectual beings!!!! Women who are intellectual beings will see right through a man’s plot to try to conquer her quickly that a man’s skin will curl up like a potato bug.
This is because some men become target minded. What I mean by this is that men will only fulfill a quest to conquer women without establishing a commitment. Women want a sense of commitment with a man in the first place. I can understand this because this is what I want for myself with a real woman. I want to establish a commitment, but a legitimate friendship first. By establishing a friendship with a real woman, you are trying to understand her from the inside out. You are becoming honest in your efforts to have a relationship without violating her privacy. Women deserve respect to the utmost.

Remember men of the world, a woman is not a piece of meat or a spoonful of sugar. They deserve love, honesty, dignity, respect, and they also need to be treated like decent human beings. They are our auxiliaries’ men okay!!! Remember it is a woman who brings life into the world but only through your assistance okay. You must learn how to treat them with respect. If you love and respect your own mother, then you will learn how to treat a real woman with respect. It is about love, truth, honesty, and respect when it comes to having a successful relationship. Always remember that good communication is the key to having a successful relationship. I am an advocate when it comes to the truth.

The older you get the wiser and intelligent you become. This comes with maturity and experience. Experience is the best teacher!!!!!!!!!!! Learning how to listen to another person and respect that person as a member of the human race is very important. If you are a living soul, then you are blessed each day as a child of God. As a child of God, you must learn how to love, honor, cherish, respect and tell the truth to others. Good communication skills in a relationship are very important not only in all relationships, but it is essential in life as long as we are still living as human beings. It is a choice for men and women to get to know each other as human beings.

It is a choice that men and women must make in order to engage in a relationship with each other. In order for men and women to have a decent relationship with each other, they must learn how to speak to each other in a decent manner. They must be able to speak to each other like they have good sense. They must also learn how to speak to each other without the use of course language and treat each other decently. Love each other in the way that God loves us. By doing so men and women must always tell the truth at all times to each other without the use of lies. Remember lies and deceit only damages relationships. If men and women hide things from each other in a relationship, then a relationship is subject for failure.

If there is a lack of truth in a relationship, men and women will have problems establishing another relationship with others due to complications and repercussions in their previous relationships. Always remember that the person that you are trying to establish another relationship with, is not the person that had caused you problems in your previous relationship. They are only trying to get to know you for the person that you are. They are accepting you totally and fully as a member of the human race.

Sincerely,
Anthony Hopkins

As an American Citizen, I would like to regain the confidence in our government. I know that there has been a lot of talk about the President and his lack of efforts in getting additional jobs to those who really need one. I know that in Ohio there have been more than 400,000 jobs that have been lost during the past 10 years. The residents in the State of Ohio have either moved to other states where there are jobs or they have relied heavily on unemployment. I also know that there are many issues when it comes to government and the confidence of the American Citizens. The American People are completely upset with government that millions fail to vote and they fail to get involved in any political parties and their ideologies. I know that the Tea Party is a brand new political party. I know that many people are joining this party; many are still dissatisfied with government and how things are in 2010. I hope and pray within the next two years that things will change. I am one of the millions of Americans that is waiting for the Government to improve, so that the confidence will be regained in government. The trust needs to be regained. Jobs and the issues must be addressed a whole lot better than it is right now.

Sincerely,
Anthony Hopkins

Frank Ski was such a disappointment while interviewing Big Meech’s mother this morning. He was basically glorifiying BMF’s drug lifestyle. If I am not mistaken, BMF is a DRUG EMPIRE with Meech doing 30 years in prison. He ended the call with “Tell Meech I am going to call him”. Frank is so hypocritical. How do you have a Frank Ski kids foundation but cater to drug dealers. I usually donate to his foundation but V103 will never get my audience or money again. You do not glorify drug dealers or their lifestyle on radio. That is the problem with today’s kids now. That was very idiotic and stupid.

I’m writing today because I don’t know what else to do. I need your help! I have a 16 yr. old brother who’s name is Richard Olden Roberts. He’s incarcerated at Metro Youth Detention. He’s being held there on 7 different charges. I’ll just say one of them is Armed Robbery. This is a case of mistaken identity. his case was dismissed lst year bty Judge Karen Woodson of Superior Court. The state picked the case back up a indicted my brother anyway. My mom died when I was 24yrs. old leaving my two brothers with me. At the time they were 5 & 7 years old. Richard being the youngest. I don’t know what to do. I paid the first attorney 3000.00 in 2009. they indicted my brother without our knowledge and put a warrant out for his arrest. I hired Dennis Scheib as his attorney emptying my entire savings. I went to the Ga. Bar on Dennis Scheib because he didn’t show up to court on two different occasions. My brothers are my life. I can’t eat or sleep thinking about them railroading him for crimes he didn’t commit. I went to the NAACP, I’m out of money, my brother doesn’t have counsel and I don”t know what to do! I need to get his case out in the opening, I am so afraid for him! he’s only 16 years old! Please help me!!!!!!!

Dear V103,

There used to be a time when your radio station and others were a source of great new music. Emerging artists with innovative sounds could be realized and celebrated. It seems that those days are long gone. It seems as if you think so very little of your audience that you would rather regurgitate boring, predictable and often destructive music for our so-called “listening pleasure” than play music with a real soul. I’ve found more great new music on Pandora and Youtube in the last two days than I have heard on your radio station for the past year and a half. Simply put, your programming choices suck and because of that I will not purchase anything from your advertisers, attend your events or listen to your sad station until you get real and get back to playing real music.

Sincerely,

Nikki

Hey, Frank. Atlanta and Company (11 Alive) showed a video this morning at 11:00am entitled “Do Women Rule the World”. It talked about the decline of the number of men, and the increase in women working and working in leadership positions, women having babies on their own and not marrying, women deciding to have girl babies, etc. It asked several men if they thought that men were becoming obselete :) It was funny but thought provoking. I think you would enjoy seeing and discussing it with your listeners. I called Atlanta and Company and they said that they would probably have it posted on their website later today. If they do, please take a look. I think that you would see the humor as much as I did.

Wanda and Frank,
The family of DeFarra “Dean” Gaymon is asking that you share with your listening audience that their son, a husband and father of four from the Atlanta area was shot and killed by an Essex County, NJ, undercover sheriff last Friday. He was there for his 30th high school class reunion. . The officer, who was not injured, was taken to the hospital and not required to give a statement about the shooting for four days. He has time to “fabricate” a story and is attempting to destroy his reputation to justify his murder. The Gaymon family is in shock and their grief is compounded by the actions of officials in that state. There have been 5 shootings of individuals this month alone. The family is demanding that federal authorities take this matter over and is asking for your help to shine the light on this tragedy.

Good Morning,
This comment is for the Frank and Wanda Morning Show. I was very disappointed to hear the cruel impersonation of Democratic Senate Candidate Alvin Green. Not so much that I am a supporter of Mr. Green, like most people I do not know very much about him. However, the “Forrest Gump” portrayal of him this morning was uncalled for and honestly embarrassing. I find it sad that we as black people will criticize and be “ashamed” of our own and not lift a finger to assist in their growth. I live in Atlanta and I know how much Frank and Wanda do for the Community, but as the right hand does well the other does injustice. Elle suggested that Frank make a few phone calls because he “knows” people to get an interview to further taunt the man, why not make a phone call to connect him with a speech coach so that he GROW and learn how to properly articulate and represent himself and our people. I’m sure neither Frank nor Wanda, nor did Elle for that matter have come to where they are today without grooming and training. I hope I have not come across as belligerent, I just feel strongly about supporting and nurturing the black community. Yes there are MANY Representatives in BOTH parties that are neither the brightest nor the most qualified to lead this country; this is a reflection of corruption and our government’s systems set in place to have officials elected and . It is also a reflection of the people of this country and how much we PAY ATTENTION to the issues and subject matter that we so leisurely sit around the microphones to discuss. Frank, Wanda, and Elle

Love you dearly but I don’t thing you need to sit there and talk bad about the man who ran for office in NC and won. He may not be able to speak well but so far SOME of the questions he has been asked have been pointless ones. Has anyone asked him what is on his agenda? The only reason George W. Bush could speak well is because he had money to pay for someone to write his speaches and coach him. Stop the same ol black stuff of running down the unfortunate. FRANK you of all people I would not expect….. AT LEAST he had the GUTS to run and make his point heard instead of complaining others who are doing nothing but complaining also. It goes to show even “FOREST GUMP” has courage and common sense and cares more about what is going on around him than what song is the hottest or who is doing who or other nonsense. The time is now to get real and stop being stuck on STUPID!!!!!!!!!

What I fogot to mention is that another reason why I am so angry is because the people who voted for someone they did not know are the stupid ones!!!!

This message is for anyone of the V’s DJs, my daughter is a competitve gymnast. She is in need of floor music for this season. If someone can put together a mix for her, we both would be appreciative. Not necessary looking for a hip hop mix but perhaps some contemporary type music with a hip hop flare would be perfect.

Oh yeah, if a listener has some ideas, we are open to that too.

i have three comment: first, i like wanda smith but i cannot tolerate her laughting until she gags all the time, if i am tired of it i know one day lemorris will get tired of it too , she also interjects lemorris into everything , i am sensing a bit of insecurity in her comments. secondly; she seems to have this thing about frank discing him, throwing him under the bus, trying to put him on the spot alot and trying to make him seem foolish and like he is wrong a lot of the times, frank is such a gentleman and doesn’t say much to her, she is so not in frank ski’s league intellegence wise. thirdly; i am so tired of frank and sometimes ryan doing shows about black men choosing white women, do one about the regrets of that union, mainly white women who regret being with black men and black men who feel the same and why that union doesn’t work as a whole / also the most intellegent black man who could have chosen any woman he wanted chose a black woman {President Obama} , last but not least please play more of chris brown’s music please he is an amazing performer and needs to come back , white people don’t let their people deteriorate like we do , God sees everything we do and we will pay for holding this young man back and not helping him as much as possible, time white people say something negative about us, we run with it while they sit and laugh at us, and say , another one down. how can they be against crime when they invented it . oh by the way my husband of 20 yrs is biracial.

Correct.I would have my cigarete and 211 and they would do what they do.LONG AS THEY KNEW NOT I.I must say they would have that much respect for me she is not sniffing dope partner you on your own with that one. When you say well cocaine is crack then they get tender and say no i do not smoke no crack will call all his people in the hood crackheads and then say i sniff coke it is not the same the hell it ain’t.Now like i said i hope that has stopped cause the main one sniffing coke was the main one telling who all are crackheads now in the hood. You remember your folks while you telling lies i was there and never would she want to try and glad she i did not. That cause relationships to go bad back it the day that coke was calling them and then i think that ecstacy drug make them men who always wanted to come out the closet come out. That is another drug that after they got finish describing you knew take your drink everywhere you go back in the club days.We call them street pharmacist.BEWARE!We did not play the radio.I call it rich man drug.So while big money grip was doing that i will keep it real bread was broke and i did not have to worry about that I love you stuff just break bread and out.I can talk about it now cause i know it is the past.Last laugh!Have a beautiful day!Much love to everyone!

I have a ? does v-103 play any other artist other then usher, drake, trey songz, monica, jeezy, young money. It’s so frustrating because you listen to this station and all you hear are the same songs all the time in 1 hour I heard trey songz your side of the bed 4 times come on.I understand the politics of the music game however how about having a segment when you guys actually give other artist a time to shine artist like bilal, algebra, conya doss, souful artist with excellent music. I like v-103 for the things you guys do for the community however when it comes to being diverse in the music and the artist you play you guys just stick to the norm your like any other radio station when you claim or are number one you should set a different standard a standard were other stations would like to follow. I gave this radio station a chance won’t be listening ever again thank god for internet radio and college stations.
