Who says you can’t come home? After 5 seasons and a Super Bowl appearance with the Los Angeles Rams, Todd Gurley is signing with the Atlanta Falcons for one year.

The former Georgia Bulldog and All-SEC running back was released by the Rams this week following a slow down by leg injuries. Ultimately, the 4 year $60 Million contract he signed in 2018 was too much for the Rams to carry given his injury history. With this one year deal with the Falcons, he joins a backfield that includes Ito Smith and Qadree Ollison following the release of Davonta Freeman.

Gurley, the 2017 NFL Offensive Player of the Year, helped lead the Rams to Super Bowl LIII right here in Atlanta where his Rams lost to the Patriots 13-3 in 2019. He only rushed for 35 yards as his usage dwindled throughout the postseason due to injury. Gurley originally tore his left ACL in 2014 while still playing for the Bulldogs.

Being back home and sharing the running back load should allow the former Pro Bowler, who is still only 25 years old, the opportunity to show he’s still physically capable of aiding the Falcons offense.
