Georgia's general election primary runoff is scheduled in August, and state officials are looking to avoid the same chaos that occurred during the primary election.

In June, many voters stood in line up to six hours throughout metro Atlanta to cast their ballot. The trending causes of the long delays were issues with the new voting machines, polling location closures due to the coronavirus pandemic, staffing shortages, and a large number of voters never received their absentee ballot. As a result, state election officials shifted the blame on county election officials, and county officials shifted the blame back on the state.

The national embarrassment pressed lawmakers to hold a special investigative hearing on Wednesday, in which they demanded answers from Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger.  During the hearing, Raffensperger proposed ways to avoid any future election disasters. His suggestions included more polling locations, training, early voting, and tech support at the polls to prevent any issues.
