Spoiler Alert! If you haven’t seen Episode 1, Season 3 of Insecure then please keep it moving or read at your own will.

When you know better you do better, according to Issa and friends in this new season of Insecure on HBO. In Episode 1, we see a handful of things being highlighted that we -- especially the ladies -- should be paying attention to.

First, exes are exes for a reason! There was so much hoop and holler about Lawrence not appearing in Season 3 of Insecure, but let’s be real: How many of us really keep exes around? And if you do, how beneficial is it to have that person around? No one wants toxic energy and negative vibes in their life after they’ve moved on. So Lawrence had to go. Sorry; not sorry. #LawrenceHive.

Secondly, self-vacays are needed. It’s totally okay to travel alone, whether you’re single or in a relationship. Everyone needs to recharge and take a break from everyday life, work, stress and even people sometimes. Molly did just that at the beginning of the episode, and came back to Cali feeling rejuvenated and ready to take on the world -- and these men.

Third, never place your eggs in one basket (I know you’ve heard this saying a million times and it holds true). When dating, you have to be open and comfortable testing the waters with different people. By doing so, you figure out your likes and dislikes, and allow yourself to not get too attached to one person right away. Men do it everyday, B! Have options, be safe and most of all, have fun while doing so.

Fourthly, the women of Insecure are making things very clear. In Episode 1 we see Molly taking control and establishing the roles of the men in her life while dating. She set boundaries, made her request clear and somewhat stood by them. Shout-out to Molly for asking Dro to give her house key back. Um, sir you thought! This role establishment is nothing new to men; where do you think “main chick” and “side chick” came from?

Lastly, this episode was filled with women’s empowerment within the music industry. Insecure is known to keep a banging soundtrack, and in Episode 1 we heard music exclusively from up-and-coming hip-hop females making their voices and presences known in the soundtrack of life, including Saweetie, City Girls and new mom Cardi B. Check out the soundtrack to Episode 1 on Spotify and catch new episodes Sundays at 10:30 pm on HBO.

Ladies always remember to find your worth within yourself and then find a man who’s worthy of you. Never forget to take care of yourself, protect your energy and when you know better, do better!
