‘If you protested last night, get Covid test this week’

Atlanta's Mayor told protesters who've been demonstrating for reforms after the death of George Floyd, they should get tested for COVID-19, according to a report from the New York Daily News.

Floyd died in police custody this month. Video of his arrest sparked national  outrage as officers could be seen on the clip pinning the Minneapolis man to the ground with one officer's knee on his neck despite Floyd's complaints of having trouble breathing.

One officer has since been arrested and charged with murder and manslaughter, but protests have continued nationwide, including Atlanta.

The Mayor reminded citizens there's "still a pandemic." COVID-19 has claimed more than 100,000 lives nationwide.

"If you were out protesting last night, you probably need to go get a COVID test this week," Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms said via the Daily News.
